This volume presents contributions by archivists, curators and scholars along with examples of photography in India over 150 years. The aim of the Akademi is to project the Lalit Kala Contemporary as a serious art journal rather than a glossy magazine, so the brief was to have a sober yet imaginative design. The specifications for the publication was modified to be full colour, while earlier issues had been designed in black & white with a few colour plates, which I had not seen.
